LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

We develop the leaders that the world needs now; leaders who tackle our complex and dynamic problems, leaders who empower ambition and achievement.

So our programmes go beyond the traditional. Yes, we develop knowledge and understanding, but we also explore how leaders think and the assumptions that may limit possibilities. Of course, we expand skills and techniques but we also build the courage to use them. Certainly, we explore styles and attitudes, but we also ground leaders’ authority in their values and identity.

Our programmes enable leaders to understand what it’s like to be led by them, enabling purposeful leaders to exercise their influence for positive impact.

Clients say that our leadership development programmes are powerful and unique because they:

  • Integrate learning with real work

  • Expose leaders to new relationships and fresh experiences

  • Build strong developmental networks

  • Engage the whole person; head, heart and will

  • Work with unconscious processes that play out within and around us

  • Frame development as a process of sustainable, incremental change

Some examples of our leadership development work

Medical Education Supervisors

Living Potential worked with postgraduate deans nationally (creating leadership resources, designing and facilitating half-day workshops for hundreds of supervisors and producing films about integrated leadership learning) to integrate leadership learning for junior doctors into Medical Education Supervision through training supervisors to incorporate reflective practice into their work. This is a radical change and important step in ensuring that BAME and all junior doctors see themselves as leaders and can consciously develop their leadership competence and confidence through everyday practice. Over time it will fundamentally change medical trainees’ perceptions of their readiness and entitlement to senior leadership positions, redressing the presumptions of fit and privilege that characterise the current medical hierarchy.

Bar Standards Board

Living Potential developed and facilitated a bespoke leadership programme for the senior team and all board leaders to change culture and impact.

“Louisa took my professional development to a completely different level. Her ability to understand, to anticipate, to ask probing questions at just the right time, made me think and comprehend leadership, management, and my own humble place in these hallowed halls in a completely different way. I cannot speak highly enough about the positive impact she has had on my experience at the BBC.”
