NHS Leaders’ Health & Wellbeing Programmes
In our challenging and changing world, it is easy for leaders to forget to take good care of themselves. Yet all the research confirms that leaders have a major influence on staff wellbeing and wider organisational health:
Leaders have just as much of an impact on people’s mental health as their partner (both 69%) – and even more of an impact than their doctor (51%) or therapist (41%)
Mental Health At Work, Workforce Institute 2023
Since 2022, we have been delivering three complementary programmes to mobilise wellbeing culture change across the NHS:
1. A national programme for mid-level NHS Leaders
2. A Local Facilitators’ Development Programme, developing internal facilitators to deliver programmes within their organisations
3. An NHS Executive Leaders’ Wellbeing Programme, focusing on how Directors can create and support cultures of wellbeing
We also facilitate Wellbeing Leaders’ Communities of Practice and established the NHS’ first Leadership Wellbeing Faculty in 2024.
Funding for these programmes is currently closed but please get in touch if you would like to discuss this work further, or if you are interested in commissioning a Local or Executive programme.
Alongside designing and delivering Healthy Leadership programmes, we are actively building a body of research to inform a future publication into how leaders can:
Develop the mindset and skillset to stay personally well through the many expectations, projections and privileges of the role
Make full use of the leadership behaviours and approaches that create workplace wellbeing
HEALTH AND WELLBEING COACHING
We work with a community of 15 coaches who guide clients to improved leadership wellbeing from an initial ‘wellbeing audit’ through personalised and practical steps to health.
